Tomohon

Tomohon is one of the regions in North Sulawesi, can be reached by land transportation from the capital city of North Sulawesi Province, Manado with a distance of + 25 Km. The location of Tomohon City is surrounded by Minahasa Regency; the north is bordered by Pineleng and Tombulu sub-districts (Minahasa Regency). The south is bordered by Sonder and Remboken (Minahasa Regency), the west by Tombariri (Minahasa Regency) and the east by Tondano (Minahasa Regency) and Airmadidi (North Minahasa Regency). While the districts/cities adjacent to Tomohon City are South Minahasa Regency (West) Manado City (North) Minahasa Regency (East) and Southeast Minahasa Regency (South) Tomohon City is in a mountainous region located at 1°15′ LU and 124°50′ East, has an area of 147.21 km² and is located at an altitude of approximately 900-1100 masl. There are three mountains namely Mount Lokon (1,579.6 masl), Mount Tampusu (1,474 masl) and Mount Mahawu (1,331 masl). Several rivers such as Ranowangko River, Sapa River, Sinambey River and 32 springs are scattered. In addition, there are two lakes, namely Lake Linow and Lake Pangolombian. This area has many species of birds and other animals including Scaly-brested Kingfisher (Actenoides princeps), Island Flycatcher (Eumyias panayensis), Sulawesi Blue Flycatcher (Cyornis sanfordi), Crimson-crowned Flowerpecker (Dicaeum aureolimbatun), Crimson Sunbird (Aeythopyga siparaja), Girey Sided Flowerpecker (Dicaeum Celebicum), Citirine Flycatcher (Culicicapa ceylonensis) Sulawesi Woodpacker (Dendrocopos temminckii), White- Billed imperial Pigeon (Ducula forsteni) Superb Fruit-dove (Ptilinopus superbus), besides nature, there is also a famous extreme traditional market that provides a variety of animal meat, which can be reached 1 hour from Manado city center.
